Helping our brides navigate through the wedding journey is one of our favorite things to do. You never know what could happen and there are likely things that won’t go exactly how you had planned causing you to pivot a little. Don’t enter your wedding planning journey without people on your team. Your vendors are here to help you achieve the wedding bliss you have always dreamed of and we can assist in making those pivots a little easier so you can keep your focus on having a dream wedding and entering into marriage with your new spouse.

Below is the inside scoop from one of our brides on her wedding journey…

Dreamy Hyatt Regency Resort Wedding

Dreamy Hyatt Regency Resort Wedding

Erin and Chris signed on with Marcella Camille Events in the fall of 2019. Originally planning for a ski resort style wedding, they fell in love with Heavenly Mountain Resort to celebrate their love. Well, wouldn’t you know it, 2020 hit and all plans became halted very quickly. Deciding they still wanted to proceed with their wedding and celebration in 2020, we were able to pivot and find them a gorgeous location for their wedding nestled amongst the East Shore of Lake Tahoe at The Hyatt Regency Resort.

Should I Postpone My Wedding Due to Covid-19?

As the shelter in place orders continue to be extended, we're getting a lot of our clients in a lot of couples in general asking if they should consider postponing their wedding. to be sure, this is an unprecedented time to be engaged and plan anything let alone plan your wedding.

We’ll keep this short and sweet. if moving forward with your original date is giving you too much anxiety and stress I would like she would encourage you to consider reaching out to your clients starting with your Venue and seeing what their postponement policy is. Also start asking your venue what's alternate dates they may have available later this year or in 2021. Wedding planning is already a very stressful time . COVID-19 is adding an extra layer of stress. No one will fault you for wanting to postpone your wedding for the safety of your guess guests and your own sanity. Your family,  your guests, and your vendors all love you and want you to have the wonderful events that you've been planning. We will be there to celebrate with you whenever your wedding can take place. Do know that some vendors are requiring a postponement fee. It would also be a kindness to consider paying a portion of your remaining balance at the original due date to help cover their overhead for this year.

To wrap it up, we love you and want you to stay safe and healthy as much as your loved ones and your guests.  That does include your mental and emotional health, too.

Whether just to create a plan B (or plan C really), we encourage you to start exploring what postponement would look like to help ease the stress and anxiety layer that is here due to Covid-19.

I’ve created a super helpful tool to help you keep track of your vendor communication and a tutorial on how to use it along with some other helpful tips.

How To Get Wedding Insurance

Just as you have insurance for your home, for your car, for your health, and possibly even your cell (if you’re one of those who constantly drops theirs in the water or cracks the screen), it’s not a bad idea to have special event insurance for your wedding or event.

How Do I Get Wedding/Event Insurance?

Purchasing your wedding/event insurance policy is super easy!

There are many different online wedding insurance companies to choose from (I’ll provide them below).  Most allow you to simply fill out your wedding/event details such as date, location, guest count, coverage needed, and policy holder’s name and contact info, venue’s name and info and you can then purchase and print that day.

Below are some of my favorite wedding/event insurance providers with example policies covering just general aggregate liability insurance and then a second example policy showing general aggregate liability insurance with event cancellation.

  1. Wedsafe.com

  2. Theeventhelper.com

  3. www.protectmywedding.com

  4. www.markel.com

We know that with our current climate, many are trying to purchase wedding insurance in light of COVID-19.

Here is a good statement of understanding of wedding insurance and if it will be covered according to Vice President of WedSafe.

Because of the fluid nature of the situation, coronavirus claims must be handled on a case by case basis to properly assess what coverage is applicable to each bride and groom, due to the endless variables and scenarios that can arise. Like most insurance, cancelling for the fear of something potentially happening, including coronavirus concerns, would typically not be a covered reason for cancellation. Also, given the news coverage and official designation as a pandemic, it is considered a known event, which would likely preclude any coverage for policies sold after a certain date in time.
